Quick Weekday Meal
Soon you'll learn The Fresh Market is one of my favorite grocery stores. I can always count on finding something new, whether it's coffee, crawfish sushi, or a delicious dessert. Tonight's center dish was discovered there...the Brussel sprouts + bacon is paired perfectly with a few at home items.
*You can absolutely substitute any of the ingredients below to accommodate what you have on hand.*
What You Need
Brussel sprouts
Bacon, cut in pieces
Onion
Salt
Crushed red pepper
German wieners
Parboiled Rice
The Process
*I do believe in no fuss rice, so I use a Crock-Pot with half the recommended amount of water on the Rice/Risotto setting.*
First, you will need a frying pan to cook your bacon in. While your bacon is cooking you can go ahead and rinse your onion, Brussel sprouts, and wieners.
Then slice desired amount of onion, cut Brussel sprouts into fourths, and slice the wieners lengthwise.
When the bacon is finished cooking remove it from pan, leaving the grease behind.
In the same grease you will sauté your onions slightly soft before adding in the Brussel sprouts.
When you see the outside of the Brussel sprouts softening a little add the bacon back to the pan, and continue to sauté adding in salt and crushed red pepper.
When your desired tenderness is reached, remove from pan.
Use the same pan to brown on both sides wieners.
Move wieners to outer side of pan, add Brussel sprouts in the middle and allow to warm on low for 5 mins with lid before turning stove off.
When you are ready to eat, plate your meal, and bon appetit.
Happy Cooking!
